Great news from Terra Natura Benidorm! The park has just welcomed a new margay (Leopardus wiedii) to the European Conservation Programme for the species. This neotropical wildcat, with only around 60 individuals left in European captivity, gets a vital boost thanks to the zoo’s dedicated conservation team.
The new male margay is adapting very well and has already started sharing space with the female Lecia, paving the way for potential future breeding success. This achievement adds to other recent projects, including a veterinary and genetic study on a pair of Siamese crocodiles (Critically Endangered) and successful births of vulnerable primates late in 2025.
March 2026 also brings exciting visiting opportunities: Terra Natura is open weekends now and will switch to daily opening from March 19. Aqua Natura reopens around March 26-27, ready with over 1,000 meters of thrilling waterslides and family areas.
