The Alhambra of Granada Shines in 2026: New Water-Themed Exhibition and Over 7,700 Free Visits for Locals
The Alhambra in Granada remains one of the world’s most captivating monuments, and in 2026 it continues to make headlines that highlight both its timeless magic and its commitment to the local community. The Patronato has just opened the exhibition “Gardens of the Generalife and the Alhambra.

The Miracle Born of Water” in the Palace of Charles V, featuring 245 works that celebrate the historical and landscape value of its extraordinary gardens —true masterpieces of Nasrid art—. At the same time, more than 7,700 residents from Granada province will enjoy free tickets this year to the monument and the Dobla de Oro sites, thanks to an agreement with the Provincial Council. Visitor projections point to exceeding 2.75 million annual visits (while maintaining strict conservation caps), and exciting technological projects such as the digital twin are underway to improve management, preservation, and the visitor experience.

The Alhambra is not only looking back —it is boldly stepping into a sustainable and inclusive future.
